Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand is governed by an Executive Committee comprising the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and three Members' representatives. The President and Vice-President are elected for a period of two years. The current term runs unti mid 2009.

Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand is committed to the continual development
of undergraduate medical education in Australia and New
Zealand, leading to
medical graduates who are competent, humane, and dedicated to
improving the health and well-being of the broader community.The core objectives of Medical Deans Australia and New
Zealand are to:
- uphold the highest quality standards in medical education,
clinical training and medical research;
- develop, implement and share innovative approaches to medical
education;
- encourage medical students to reach for the highest personal
and professional standards in their chosen endeavours;
- identify and address national issues in medical education
and research, and engage with public debates on health issues;
- promote a broader understanding and awareness of the role
medical education plays in the health of the community;
- foster communication and relationships amongst medical schools,
State and Commonwealth governments, and the wider community.
