Medical Deans engage in a number of projects and activities relevant to medical students, medical schools, workforce planning, the medical education continuum as well as state and Commonwealth governments. Areas of activity include clinical training placements, workforce planning, Indigenous Health, policy guidelines and recommendations, benchmarking, competencies and rural and regional health.
Projects are overseen by a Steering Committee comprising Deans, medical school staff and stakeholder representatives when relevant. These Steering Committees are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the project and ensuring the project outcomes are delivered in conjunction with the Project Manager.
The Secretariat is responsible for providing project management, administrative support and for implementing the outcomes where appropriate. Several Medical Deans projects attract Australian Government funding.
